There is a movement that’s gaining a lot of attention centered around something called mental toughness. When you boil it all down, mental toughness centers around the fact that you are more likely to succeed at what you want if you can push through pain, the same way an athlete or bodybuilder pushes through pain to tear down their bodies and build them back stronger.
Voiceover is no different. We are not just business people, but we are athletes with our voices and daily stamina.
Case in point, this morning I got up at 6 a.m. after about four and a half hours of sleep and took my wife to work. I came home and got started recording, interviewing other experts for the blog, and handling other details involved in running a business.
Now, I’m on my way to pick my wife back up from work and dictating this blog post into my phone. (Don’t worry, hands are at 10 and 2 and eyes on the road.)
The point is, what’s going to separate you from the legions of other people who buy a $50 microphone and call themselves a “Voice Talent”, is your willingness to endure tough times.
And believe me, you will run into tough times. You will face rejection, exhaustion, self doubt, Etc. But so does every other entrepreneur who has found any degree of success. And believe me, if you do stick through all of that, you will find success.
I’ll have you demonstrated mental toughness in your own life? Let us know by leaving a comment below. Inspire us!
